I have had the opportunity to navigate complex bureaucratic systems to secure benefits or services for an older adult during my internship as a social work student. I worked with an older adult who needed assistance with accessing Medicare benefits. It was a challenging process as we had to gather all the necessary documentation and submit multiple applications. However, with my organizational and problem-solving skills, I was able to guide the older adult through the process and ensure they received the benefits they were entitled to.
