Can you describe your experience with performing site inspections? What were your main tasks and responsibilities?

In my previous role as a site inspector, I frequently performed site inspections, which were a large part of my responsibilities. I used to monitor the progress of assigned projects, verify the quality of materials and workmanship, and check if the construction processes were following the given specifications and standards. I also had to ensure that they complied with all safety regulations. After each inspection, I made detailed documentation of all the findings and reported them to my supervisor.

During my internship as a building inspector at XYZ Construction Company, my primary responsibilities involved performing regular site inspections on various construction sites. On a typical day, I would go out, armed with my hard hat and inspection checklists, to assess the adherence to the construction plan, building codes and safety regulations. There was this one project I recall very clearly, a residential complex that was under construction - I caught a major mistake. They were using lower-grade concrete than specified in the blueprint. That's my attention to detail in action! All my findings were then meticulously recorded using the inspection software, which we used to streamline our reporting process. I would then communicate these details effectively with my superior and the construction personnel, discussing any anomalies or deviations that I've observed.

Throughout my two-year internship as an assistant construction inspector with ABC Construction company, I spent a lot of time on several construction projects. I had to adapt quickly to perform independent site inspections with minimal supervision. But one experience stands out, related to a large commercial project. I found that the construction crew was using an I-beam with a substantially lower load-bearing capacity than needed. Using my understanding of construction methods, I quickly realized the gravity of the situation. I discussed the issue with the construction team, utilizing my communication skills to convey the seriousness of the scenario. Post-confirmation, I documented the findings in our designated reporting software, creating a comprehensive report including pictures, site drawings, and a detailed description of the identified issue. I handled the situation from identification to resolution, developing a corrective action plan with architectural and engineering teams. This incident, among others, has shaped my capacity to diligently identify and troubleshoot complications in real-time, ensuring the project's adhesion to the specified guidelines.
