Summary of the Role
We are seeking an experienced Protein Engineering Scientist to join our dynamic biotechnology team. The successful candidate will lead efforts in the design, engineering, and optimization of proteins for various applications in therapeutics, diagnostics, and industrial processes. A deep understanding of protein structure-function relationships and experience in directed evolution and protein expression are essential.
Required Skills
In-depth knowledge of protein chemistry and engineering principles.
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, mutagenesis, cloning, and sequence analysis.
Expertise in using analytical tools such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy for protein characterization.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
Excellent problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field with at least 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in protein engineering.
Proven track record of scientific innovation and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Extensive experience with techniques such as phage display, yeast display, or other directed evolution methods.
Expertise in protein expression systems (bacterial, yeast, mammalian) and protein purification techniques.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency with structural biology software and molecular modeling tools.
Experience in supervising and leading research teams.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies for protein engineering to improve stability, activity, and specificity of proteins.
Design and execute directed evolution experiments to generate novel protein variants with desired properties.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the integration of engineered proteins into product development.
Analyze and interpret data from a variety of biochemical and biophysical assays.
Supervise and mentor junior scientists and research associates.
Prepare technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.
Stay up-to-date with the latest scientific advancements in protein engineering and related fields.
