In my previous role as an Animal Welfare Specialist, I encountered a difficult decision regarding animal welfare when we had to rehome a group of dogs due to overcrowding. I approached this decision by first conducting a thorough assessment of the current situation, including evaluating the dogs' living conditions and mental well-being. I also considered the available resources, such as space and staff, to determine if we could provide a suitable environment for all the animals. After careful consideration, I made the difficult decision to rehome some of the dogs in order to alleviate the overcrowding and ensure the well-being of all the animals. This decision was made in consultation with my team, and we worked together to find suitable homes for the dogs, ensuring that they would receive the care and attention they needed. Although it was a challenging decision, it was ultimately what was best for the animals involved.

This decision not only improved the welfare of the rabbits but also showcased my proficiency in welfare assessment, ability to handle and restrain animals safely, knowledge of animal first aid and emergency care, strong observational skills, and capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
