What monitoring systems have you used in the past?

In my previous role as a Systems Administrator, I utilized multiple monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zabbix, and PRTG. These tools provided real-time visibility into the health and performance of our infrastructure. I configured the monitoring systems to track key metrics like CPU usage, memory utilization, network traffic, and disk space. Whenever a threshold was exceeded or an issue was detected, the monitoring systems would trigger alerts and send notifications to the appropriate team members. This allowed us to quickly identify and resolve any performance or availability issues. Additionally, I created custom dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with a clear overview of the system status.

During my tenure as a Systems Administrator, I had the opportunity to work with several monitoring systems. Some of the systems I used include Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, and New Relic. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of monitoring systems, each with its own strengths and features. In addition to the previously mentioned systems, I have experience with Datadog, SolarWinds, and Prometheus. I believe that having a diverse knowledge of monitoring tools is crucial as different systems excel in certain areas. For example, I utilized the visualization capabilities of Datadog to create comprehensive dashboards that provided a holistic view of our infrastructure's performance. With SolarWinds, I leveraged its network monitoring capabilities to detect and troubleshoot complex network issues. I also implemented custom monitoring solutions using Prometheus and Grafana to collect and analyze custom metrics specific to our applications. By leveraging these monitoring systems effectively, I was able to proactively identify and resolve issues, optimize system performance, and drive continuous improvement in our infrastructure.
