How have you assisted in testing and commissioning new substations or equipment?

In my previous role as a Substation Technician, I played a crucial role in testing and commissioning new substations and equipment. I worked closely with senior technicians to ensure that all the necessary checks and tests were performed accurately. This involved verifying the proper installation of equipment, conducting insulation resistance tests, performing functionality tests on circuit breakers and relays, and verifying the accuracy of metering equipment. Additionally, I assisted in the energization process and carried out pre-commissioning tests to ensure the equipment was working as intended. Throughout the testing and commissioning process, I maintained detailed records of all the tests conducted and their results to provide documentation for future reference.

Additionally, I collaborated with the engineering team to review and interpret technical diagrams and schematics, ensuring the equipment was installed correctly and aligned with project specifications. Throughout the testing and commissioning process, I meticulously maintained detailed records of all the tests conducted, including their results and any abnormalities detected. These records were essential for providing documentation and facilitating troubleshooting activities in the future.

As a Substation Technician, I have been extensively involved in the testing and commissioning of new substations and equipment throughout my career. I have developed a deep understanding of the various testing procedures and techniques involved in this process. For instance, I have experience conducting power factor tests to assess the capacitive or inductive load of equipment and identify any power quality issues.
