Tell us about a time when you had to deal with conflicting priorities while managing a backlog.

In my previous role as an Agile Product Owner, I often had to manage conflicting priorities while handling the backlog. One specific instance was when we had a tight deadline for a new feature, but at the same time, we received a high-priority bug report from a major client. To resolve this conflict, I first assessed the severity and impact of the bug and communicated it to the development team and stakeholders. Then, I organized a meeting with the team and discussed the options we had. We decided to allocate a portion of the development capacity to fix the bug while still working on the new feature. By re-prioritizing and adjusting our sprint backlog, we were able to address the critical bug without compromising the progress on the new feature. It required effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to handle the conflicting priorities and ensure the satisfaction of both the client and the internal team.
