Tell us about a time when you had to adapt to changes in project requirements or goals.

In my previous role as a Junior Climate Resilience Planner, I had to adapt to changes in project requirements and goals when we were tasked with developing an adaptation strategy for a coastal community. Originally, the project focused on sea-level rise and storm surge, but midway through, new data showed that the community was also susceptible to coastal erosion. We had to quickly adjust our approach and incorporate coastal erosion into our strategy. This involved conducting additional research, analyzing data, and collaborating with experts in coastal management. We also had to update our stakeholder engagement plan to include specific outreach to businesses and homeowners along the coast. Despite the challenges, we successfully completed the project on time, and the community now has a comprehensive adaptation strategy that addresses multiple climate hazards.

Our efforts yielded remarkable results as the community now has a robust climate resilience strategy that not only protects against sea-level rise and storm surge but also mitigates the impacts of coastal erosion. This experience taught me valuable lessons about adaptability, problem-solving, collaboration, and the importance of data-driven decision-making in the face of evolving project requirements.
