Summary of the Role
An intermediate court reporter is responsible for creating verbatim transcriptions of legal proceedings, whether in court trials, hearings, or depositions. The role demands a keen attention to detail, excellent listening abilities, and fast, accurate typing skills. They must ensure a precise and complete record of all spoken words and gestures to assist in court processes and maintain the integrity of legal documentation.

Qualifications
Associate's degree in court reporting or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certified Court Reporter (CCR) or Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification is preferred.
2-5 years of hands-on experience in court reporting.
Strong command of the English language and familiarity with legal terminologies.
Proficiency in using court reporting equipment and software.
Responsibilities
Transcribe spoken words and gestures during various legal proceedings accurately and efficiently.
Read or play back all or a portion of the proceedings upon request from the judge or any party involved.
Operate stenotype machines, voice writing equipment, or other courtroom reporting tools.
Ensure the confidentiality and secure storage of all transcripts and legal records.
Prepare and provide written transcripts to attorneys, paralegals, and other authorized parties as requested.
Collaborate with attorneys and other court personnel to clarify and ensure an accurate record.
Maintain professional competence through continuing education and training programs.
