Summary of the Role
The Data Security Analyst will be responsible for protecting the organization's data from unauthorized access, data leakage, and cyber threats. The individual will ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, monitor security systems, and work to identify and mitigate risks. The role requires staying up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies, and collaborating with IT teams to enhance data security measures.
Required Skills
Proficiency with security software, encryption technologies, and network protocols.
Strong analytical skills to analyze security needs and develop appropriate solutions.
Attention to detail and ability to identify vulnerabilities and risks.
Working knowledge of security systems including intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
Effective communication skills for writing reports and policies and for communicating security measures to colleagues and management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience in an information security role.
Certifications in cybersecurity, such as CISSP, CISM, or similar credentials are highly desirable.
Understanding of laws related to information security and data privacy.
Responsibilities
Monitor the organization's networks for security breaches and investigate violations when they occur.
Install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information.
Prepare reports that document security breaches and the extent of the damage caused by the breaches.
Conduct risk assessments and security audits, and make recommendations to mitigate risks.
Assist in developing strategies to respond to and recover from a security breach.
Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
Perform regular security checks and simulations to identify any vulnerabilities.
Stay current on IT security trends and news, including information about new security threats and technology advancements.
