Summary of the Role
As a Technical Writer in the Aerospace industry, the candidate will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and accurate documentation that conveys complex technical information to a variety of audiences including engineers, management, and end users. The role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to understand product features, development processes, and system operations in order to produce high-quality documentation that adheres to industry standards.
Required Skills
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, and MadCap Flare.
Strong ability to translate technical information into clear, concise, and understandable text for different audiences.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering and product teams.
Strong project management skills to handle documentation schedules and deadlines effectively.
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Technical Communication, Aerospace Engineering, English, or Journalism.
2-5 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the aerospace industry.
Strong knowledge of industry-standard documentation tools and practices.
Familiarity with aerospace terminology, principles, and documentation regulatory requirements (such as FAA regulations).
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written skills, with an ability to understand and translate complex technical information for a non-technical audience.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain technical documentation for aerospace products and systems, including user manuals, installation guides, and maintenance instructions.
Work closely with engineering teams to understand product specifications and to gather the necessary information to create documentation.
Revise and update existing documents as needed based on feedback from subject matter experts and end-users.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and comprehensiveness of documentation.
Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts that increase users' understanding of the material.
Participate in design and document reviews, and provide feedback regarding documentation requirements.
Ensure that all technical documentation adheres to industry standards and regulations.
Manage the documentation process from initial conception through to publication and distribution.
