Summary of the Role
The Surgical Technician is an integral member of the surgical team who works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to deliver patient care before, during, and after surgery. As a Junior Surgical Technician, you will assist in preparing operating rooms, arranging equipment, and helping doctors during surgeries.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent (depending on state requirements).
Ability to stand for long periods of time and remain focused during lengthy and complex surgeries.
Physical stamina for lifting, moving and positioning patients and equipment.
Flexibility to work in shifts, during evenings, weekends, or on call.
Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy is a plus.
Basic lifesaving skills certification (e.g., BLS or CPR) is preferred.
Responsibilities
Prepare and sterilize operating rooms and surgical instruments before and after procedures.
Assist in setting up surgical equipment and passing instruments to surgeons during operations.
Help prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
Provide technical assistance to surgeons, surgical nurses, and anesthesiologists.
Maintain a clean and safe surgical environment.
Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
Assist in the inventory of surgical tools and supplies.
Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to stay abreast of new surgical techniques and safety protocols.
