Summary of the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Accessibility Services Specialist to ensure our products and services are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accessibility standards and regulations, a passion for creating inclusive user experiences, and a track record of implementing accessibility best practices in a corporate environment.
Required Skills
In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to influence and drive change across an organization
Proficiency in using screen readers, magnification software, and other assistive technologies
Excellent project management skills
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies as they relate to accessibility
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accessibility or a closely related field
Proficiency with WCAG and other accessibility legislation such as ADA, Section 508, and AODA
Experience with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, magnifiers) and accessibility testing tools
Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Certifications such as IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) credentials are a plus
Responsibilities
Evaluate and improve the accessibility of digital products and services
Collaborate with development teams to integrate accessibility throughout the design and development process
Conduct accessibility audits and user testing with individuals with disabilities
Develop and provide training on accessibility standards and inclusive design principles to internal teams
Stay updated with current legal requirements and best practices in accessibility
Work with external vendors to ensure third-party content and tools meet accessibility standards
Provide expert advice and guidance on accessibility matters to senior management
Assist in the development of organizational policies related to digital accessibility
