Summary of the Role
An Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner is a specialized advanced practice nurse who provides comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal issues. This role involves collaborating with orthopedic physicians to manage patient care, perform assessments, and implement treatment plans for disorders such as fractures, arthritis, osteoporosis, and injuries.

Qualifications
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on Orthopedics.
Board certification in orthopedic nursing (ONP-C) is preferred.
Valid state prescribing authority and DEA registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with a preference for experience in orthopedics.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive and targeted physical assessments.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and MRIs.
Prescribe medications, physical therapy, and other treatments.
Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding conditions and care plans.
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals in the management of patient care.
Assist in surgical procedures and provide postoperative care.
Stay current with the latest treatments and advancements in orthopedic medicine.
