Summary of the Role
The Network Security Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure to ensure secure network operations. This role requires an individual who is skilled in managing various security measures to protect systems from cyber threats, and someone who can coordinate with other IT professionals to maintain network integrity and performance. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing and troubleshooting network devices and firewalls, implementing security policies, and conducting regular system audits.

Qualifications

Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desired.
2-5 years of experience in network security or a related field.
Experience with firewall and intrusion detection/prevention protocols.
Experience with network security measures, including anti-virus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
Knowledge of operating systems, networking, and database security.
Familiarity with web-related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and network/web related protocols.
Understanding of the latest network security principles, techniques, and protocols.
Responsibilities
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, and implementing network security measures.
Monitor network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made, and to determine the necessity of equipment replacement.
Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement and ensure security that aligns with company policies and protocols.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
Train and mentor team members and new staff on network security protocols and procedures.
Stay current on the latest industry trends, threats, and security measures to continually improve the network's defense systems.
