Summary of the Role
The Radiology Informatics Specialist is responsible for managing, analyzing and optimizing the information flow in the radiology department, ensuring the proper functioning of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and integrating radiology information systems (RIS) with other health information systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and clinical knowledge, focused on improving the quality and efficiency of radiology services.

Qualifications

2-5 years of experience working in radiology informatics or related field.
Thorough knowledge of radiology workflows and processes.
Experience with PACS, RIS, and other related healthcare IT systems.
Familiarity with healthcare industry standards and regulations, such as HIPAA.
Certification in medical informatics or radiology informatics is a plus.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of PACS and RIS within the radiology department.
Ensure the integrity and security of imaging data and related patient information.
Work closely with radiologists, technicians, and IT staff to optimize radiology workflows.
Participate in the selection, implementation, and upgrading of radiology information systems.
Develop training programs and materials for users of radiologic information systems.
Troubleshoot issues related to image archiving, transmission, and retrieval.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve clinical care through better use of imaging informatics.
Monitor industry trends and advancements in radiology informatics to suggest improvements.
Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory standards related to radiology informatics.
