Summary of the Role
As a Ruminant Nutritionist, you will be instrumental in analyzing, formulating, and overseeing the nutritional management of ruminant diets to optimize animal health and performance. You will work in a dynamic environment engaging with farmers, feed suppliers, and research teams to ensure the wellbeing and productivity of dairy and beef cattle, sheep, goats, and other ruminant species.

Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, or related field
2-5 years of experience in ruminant nutrition or a related field
Strong understanding of ruminant digestive physiology and nutrient metabolism
Familiarity with forage analysis and feed formulation software
Experience in conducting research and applying research findings to practical feeding solutions
Ability to effectively communicate and work with a diverse group of individuals including farmers, researchers, and sales teams
Responsibilities
Evaluate and formulate ruminant diets to meet the specific nutritional needs of various classes of livestock
Conduct on-farm assessments to ensure proper feeding management and animal health
Collaborate with veterinarians to address nutritional deficiencies and develop customized feeding strategies
Implement new nutritional technologies and practices to enhance animal performance and welfare
Advise livestock producers on cost-effective feeding regimes and supplements
Maintain up-to-date knowledge on ruminant nutrition research and integrate findings into practical applications
Work with a team to conduct trials and publish research pertaining to ruminant nutrition
Provide educational workshops and training for farm staff to enhance feeding techniques and animal handling
