Summary of the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing optical systems to meet advanced product requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in optical sciences, with significant experience in optical design, simulation and hands-on laboratory work with optical components and systems.
Required Skills
Proficient in optical design software (Zemax, LightTools, etc.).
Strong understanding of optical physics and engineering principles.
Experience with freeform optics and non-sequential ray tracing.
Knowledge of optical materials and coatings.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Project management skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an optical engineering role.
Proven track record of innovative optical system design and development.
Familiarity with optical component manufacturing processes and limitations.
Experience with laboratory practices and optical measurement equipment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of optical system design and analysis to meet product specifications.
Conduct complex optical simulations and modeling using industry-standard tools such as Zemax, LightTools, or similar software.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components.
Drive innovation in optical technologies and apply new findings to improve products and processes.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of optical product development from concept to production, including quality testing and troubleshooting.
Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support in optical engineering principles.
Stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in the field of optics and incorporate relevant advancements into designs.
