Summary of the Role
The Infectious Disease Nurse Practitioner (ID NP) will be responsible for providing advanced practice nursing care to patients suffering from infectious diseases. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, including diagnosis, prescribing medications, and managing treatment plans in collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The ID NP will also participate in infection control programs, research initiatives, and educational outreach.

Qualifications
Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a focus on Nurse Practitioner studies.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of practice.
Certification in Infectious Disease Nursing or a related specialty.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with a focus on infectious diseases.
Clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Eligibility for federal DEA registration and state-controlled substance registration.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and diagnose infectious disease conditions.
Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members.
Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses to treatments.
Provide education to patients and their families on disease prevention and management.
Participate in infection control and surveillance programs within the healthcare facility.
Engage in research activities related to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases.
Contribute to the development of protocols and guidelines for infectious disease care.
Collaborate with public health organizations to manage outbreaks and public health emergencies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving infectious disease threats and evidence-based practices.
