Summary of the Role
A Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients with acute conditions such as heart attacks, respiratory distress syndrome, or shock, and chronic conditions such as diabetes or asthma in emergency departments. As a knowledgeable and experienced clinician, they play a critical role in the rapid assessment and treatment of patients, often serving as a primary care provider within the emergency department.

Qualifications
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the relevant state or country.
Minimum of 5 years of emergency nursing experience.
National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), or equivalent.
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
Proof of completion of an emergency or critical care nurse practitioner program from an accredited educational institution.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat patients with acute medical conditions in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
Prescribe medications, perform procedures, and develop treatment plans based on evidence-based practice guidelines.
Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Educate patients and families on disease management, prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
Participate in the development of protocols and quality improvement initiatives within the emergency department.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with legal and departmental policies.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior nursing staff and nurse practitioners.
