Summary of the Role
As a Prototype Specialist, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing functional prototypes that demonstrate ideas and test design concepts. Their expertise in prototyping methodologies and tools will be essential in translating requirements into tangible models that are used for user testing, development feedback, and to influence product direction.
Required Skills
Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
Experience with rapid prototyping tools and techniques (3D printing, CNC machining).
Aptitude for design thinking and creative problem solving.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong presentation skills to showcase prototypes and design concepts.
Capability to receive and act upon feedback constructively.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience in prototyping, model making, or product development.
Strong understanding of prototyping techniques and tools, such as CAD software, 3D printing, and CNC machining.
Experience in user-centered design and usability testing.
Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and written instructions into functional prototypes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
Design and develop prototypes of products, features, and user interfaces in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
