Summary of the Role
The Animal Breeder will perform a variety of tasks to assist in the breeding and rearing of animals for a range of purposes including conservation, genetic research, and domestic pet trade. This role typically involves hands-on work with animals, meticulous record-keeping, and following strict ethical and industry guidelines.
Required Skills
Strong observational skills to detect subtle changes in animal behavior or health.

Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in animal husbandry or a related field preferred.
Ability to handle animals gently and with patience.
Understanding of basic genetics and breeding principles.
Physically capable of performing tasks requiring bending, lifting, and being on your feet for extended periods.
High school diploma or equivalent; further education in animal science or related field is a plus.
Responsibilities
Assist with the care, feeding, and monitoring of animals' health and wellbeing.
Maintain accurate breeding records and contribute to breeding plans.
Participate in selecting animals for breeding based on traits and genetic markers.
Facilitate the mating process and monitor pregnancies.
Assist with birth or hatching processes and ensure proper care for newborn animals.
Keep facilities clean and ensure the environment is safe and conducive to animal welfare.
Adhere to all industry regulations, ethical standards, and research protocols.
