Summary of the Role
As a Senior Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, you will provide advanced nursing care for children from infancy through late adolescence, including acutely ill children. Your role includes preventive health maintenance for healthy children and medical care for children who are acutely or chronically ill. You will collaborate with a pediatrician to provide a full scope of care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation. You will participate in patient and family teaching and provide leadership in clinical setting.
Required Skills
Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date with medical technologies and developments in the field
Strong skills in diagnosing and treating complex pediatric conditions
Ability to work in a high-stress environment and to make decisions under pressure
Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks efficiently
Capable of patient and family education on health preservation and disease prevention
Emotional intelligence and empathy towards children and their families
Strong leadership skills to provide guidance to nursing staff
Qualifications
Valid nurse practitioner license
Master's or doctoral degree in nursing
Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
State licensure as required
Over 5 years' experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
Clinical experience in pediatric care
Familiarity with professional and technical emerging knowledge
Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
Compassionate with good communication skills
Responsibilities
Conduct routine check-ups to assess children's health condition and discover possible issues
Give appropriate advice for healthy habits (diet, hygiene etc.) and preventative actions to promote overall health
Coordinate with pediatricians to plan and implement comprehensive health care
Prescribe medications noting careful dosing and any potential risks
Examine and treat injuries and refer the little patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists etc.)
Keep updated records of patients' illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)
Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences
