Summary of the Role
As a Wildlife Rehabilitation Specialist, you'll be entrusted with the care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife. This role involves a blend of medical knowledge, hands-on care, and a deep understanding of wildlife behavior and ecology. You'll work in a variety of settings, such as wildlife rehabilitation centers, animal sanctuaries, or environmental agencies.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Veterinary Science, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation or a similar role.
Possession of or eligibility for relevant wildlife rehabilitation certifications.
Strong knowledge of wildlife species native to the area of employment, including their behavioral patterns and ecological needs.
Familiarity with the handling and care of various wildlife species.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the animals' needs.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and assess the condition of incoming wildlife patients, determining appropriate treatment plans.
Administer medications, perform wound care, and conduct physical therapy for rehabilitative purposes.
Design and implement habitat enrichment activities to prepare animals for release back into the wild.
Educate the public about wildlife preservation and the importance of rehabilitation efforts.
Coordinate with veterinarians, ecologists, and other specialists to optimize rehabilitation strategies.
Monitor the progress of wildlife in care, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
Assist in training volunteers and new staff on rehabilitation techniques and safety protocols.
Respond to wildlife emergencies and participate in rescue operations when necessary.
Maintain detailed records of all rehabilitation activities, including treatment protocols and animal outcomes.
