Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited medical school and successful completion of a residency program in general surgery or a related field.
Board certified or board eligible in general surgery.
Valid state medical license to practice medicine and surgery.
2 to 5 years of experience in surgical practice, with a focus on acute care or trauma surgery preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Responsibilities
Deliver expert surgical care to patients in high-pressure situations with urgent needs.
Assess, stabilize, and determine the surgical needs of patients in the acute care setting.
Lead and participate in emergency and scheduled surgical procedures.
Work collaboratively with the trauma care team to develop and implement treatment plans.
Provide post-operative care and follow-up for patients, ensuring the highest standard of recovery is achieved.
Document all patient care within the established charting system and comply with reporting requirements.
Maintain availability for on-call emergency surgery rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and ongoing care requirements.
