Summary of the Role
A NOC (Network Operations Centre) Technician is responsible for monitoring the health, security, and capacity of networks, servers, and telecommunications systems. They work in a centralized location to ensure uninterrupted network performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise. This entry-level position is crucial for maintaining the backbone of IT services.
Required Skills
Knowledge of operating systems, mainly Windows and Linux.
Basic knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.).
Proficiency in using network monitoring and analytic tools.
Understanding of network infrastructure (routers, switches, etc.).
Ability to document and explain technical details clearly.
Strong attention to detail.
Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Basic understanding of networking concepts and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools.

Willingness to work in shifts, as NOCs typically operate 24/7.
Responsibilities
Monitor network performance and report any anomalies or downtime.
Assist in troubleshooting networking issues and resolve basic incidents.
Document incident reports and maintain logs of operation activities.
Communicate with support teams to escalate complex issues.
Implement basic network changes under supervision.
Ensure backups of network configurations are performed regularly.
Respond to user inquiries and assist with resolving network or connectivity issues.
Participate in the creation and maintenance of network operation procedures.
Provide first-level contact and problem resolution for all users with hardware, software, and application problems.
