Minimum of 5 years of experience in health information management, with progressive supervisory or management experience.
In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and other privacy laws.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare information technology.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a proven track record of managing teams and projects.
Responsibilities
Oversee the entire health information management department to ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and accreditation standards.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for health information management, in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Manage and safeguard medical records and databases to ensure accuracy, privacy, and security of patient health information.
Coordinate with healthcare providers, IT professionals, and administrative staff to improve patient care through effective data management.
Conduct regular audits of health information systems and practices, and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Lead departmental efforts in transitioning to electronic health records (EHRs) and other technology-driven healthcare solutions.
Provide education and training to health information management staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices and system updates.
Stay current with the latest regulations, technologies, and trends in health information management to ensure continual departmental improvement.
