Summary of the Role
The School Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary health care services, promoting wellness, and ensuring a healthy learning environment for students. This includes managing acute and chronic illnesses, performing health screenings, and collaborating with school staff to address health-related issues.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Valid nursing license and credentials to practice as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment.
Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
Current CPR certification.
Understanding of child health issues and pediatric illnesses.
Familiarity with immunization schedules and school health regulations.
Responsibilities
Provide primary care services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for acute and chronic health conditions.
Collaborate with school staff to develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses or special health care needs.
Conduct regular health screenings such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks.
Administer immunizations and monitor compliance with state and local vaccination requirements.
Promote health education among students, parents, and staff by organizing educational sessions and distributing informational materials.
Respond to health emergencies within the school and provide first aid care as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including documentation of all provided care.
Advise school administration on health policies and assist in the development of health-related protocols.
