Summary of the Role
As a Pasture Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and maintenance of pasture resources to support livestock health and optimize forage production. Your role includes developing pasture management plans, monitoring forage availability, implementing rotational grazing systems, and coordinating with livestock managers to ensure animal welfare and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications

Understanding of livestock nutritional needs and how they correlate with pasture management.
Experience with implementing rotational grazing systems.
Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment, including tractors and implements.
Familiarity with GIS mapping and pasture management software is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt management plans based on changing conditions.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff and external parties.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and track expenses.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement pasture management plans based on soil analysis and forage tests.
Monitor pasture conditions and forage availability to adjust grazing schedules and stocking rates accordingly.
Implement and manage rotational grazing systems to optimize forage growth and livestock health.
Coordinate with livestock managers to ensure that animal welfare standards are met and that pasture usage aligns with livestock nutritional needs.
Manage the maintenance and repair of fencing, watering systems, and other pasture infrastructure.
Oversee weed control and pest management programs to maintain healthy pasture ecosystems.
Collaborate with conservation agencies and adhere to environmental regulations and best practices for sustainable pasture management.
Analyze pasture performance and make recommendations for improvements or changes in management practices.
Budget management, including cost tracking for pasture maintenance, improvements, and supplies.
Train and supervise staff involved in carrying out daily pasture maintenance activities.
