Summary of the Role
An Orthopedic Nurse specializes in caring for patients with musculoskeletal ailments such as broken bones, arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, and other injuries and diseases. As a senior Orthopedic Nurse, you will provide expert care to patients, offer guidance to nursing staff, and collaborate with orthopedic surgeons to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Qualifications
Current and valid RN license.

Certification in Orthopedic Nursing (ONC) preferred.
Proven ability to supervise and mentor nursing staff.
Advanced knowledge of orthopedic diseases, conditions, and treatments.
Responsibilities
Provide specialized nursing care to orthopedic patients before, during, and after surgery.
Monitor patient vitals, administer medication, and assist in pain management.
Educate patients and their families on disease processes, medical procedures, and recovery plans.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Supervise junior nursing staff, provide training, and ensure high standards of nursing practice are maintained.
Participate in research and stay up-to-date with advancements in orthopedic nursing practices and procedures.
Implement orthopedic treatment plans as directed by orthopedic surgeons and physicians.
Manage patient documentation and maintain accurate health records.
Lead quality improvement initiatives within the orthopedic department.
