Summary of the Role
A senior Solid Waste Planner is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive plans for solid waste management, which may include recycling programs, landfill operations, and waste-to-energy projects. This role involves strategic planning, coordination with various stakeholders, compliance with environmental regulations, and promoting sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain long-term solid waste management plans, including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and disposal
Coordinate with government agencies, community groups, and private organizations for effective waste management solutions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations and policies
Monitor and analyze waste collection and disposal methods to identify areas for improvement
Prepare technical reports, grant applications, and presentations for various audiences
Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for waste treatment and disposal
Manage budgets and conduct cost-benefit analyses for various waste management projects
Lead public engagement and education initiatives related to recycling and waste reduction
Liaise with engineers, urban planners, and environmental scientists to integrate solid waste management into broader urban development plans
