Responsibilities
Collaborate with directors and producers to interpret and realize the costume needs of the production.
Research historical, cultural, and social contexts to design authentic and appropriate costume pieces.
Sketch designs and create costume renderings for approval by production teams and directors.
Develop costume plots for characters and oversee the creation and fitting of all costume pieces.
Manage the budget, timelines, and resources for the costume department.
Work closely with wardrobe supervisors and dressers to ensure costumes are maintained and styled correctly for each performance.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior costume staff members.
Maintain a comprehensive inventory of costumes, fabrics, and accessories.
Stay up-to-date with current fashion trends and use this knowledge to enhance costume designs.
