The Hazardous Waste Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe and compliant management, transportation, and disposal of hazardous wastes within an organization. This includes developing and implementing waste management policies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting environmentally responsible practices.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other relevant environmental regulations.
Certification in hazardous materials management (e.g., CHMM) is preferred.
Strong understanding of waste characterization and disposal techniques.
Experience with environmental permitting and reporting procedures.
Responsibilities
Develop and update waste management policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Coordinate the pickup and transportation of hazardous waste to appropriate disposal facilities.
Maintain accurate records of waste generation, storage, and disposal activities.
Conduct regular inspections of waste storage areas and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Train staff on proper hazardous waste handling and emergency procedures.
Advise management on the impact of current and emerging waste management legislation.
Establish and maintain relationships with waste disposal vendors and regulatory agencies.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documents related to hazardous waste management.
Respond to hazardous waste emergencies and spills, coordinating with internal teams and external agencies.
Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies to minimize the impact of hazardous waste.
