Summary of the Role
The Special Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the delivery of special education services in an educational institution. This role involves working closely with special education teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws, and provide support and resources to staff and families.

Qualifications
Master's degree in Special Education, Education Administration or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in special education or a related education field.
Valid teaching credential or special education certification.
A thorough understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other relevant special education laws.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proven ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
Experience with budgeting and resource allocation.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and laws pertaining to special education.
Provide guidance and support to special education teachers and staff.
Collaborate with school administrators to integrate special education services into the wider school system.
Foster relationships with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to support students' educational needs.
Manage special education program budgets and allocations.
Lead professional development efforts for staff in the area of special education.
Monitor and report on the progress of students with disabilities.
Serve as a liaison between the school and external agencies, such as medical professionals and advocacy groups, involved in supporting students' education.
Handle conflict resolution involving students with special needs, their families, and school personnel.
