Summary of the Role
The Aviation Safety Inspector is responsible for ensuring that aviation operators, air agencies, and airmen comply with regulatory requirements, and for promoting safety and efficiency in the operation and maintenance of aircrafts. This role often involves travel to various locations to inspect aviation facilities and equipment, and to review operational practices.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 5 years in the aviation safety field.
Experience in conducting compliance inspections and aircraft accident investigations.
Ability to make sound judgments and to act decisively in difficult situations.
Responsibilities
Inspect aircraft, maintenance procedures, air navigational aids, air traffic controls, and communications equipment.
Determine the adequacy of the aviation operation or equipment, including aspects such as instruments, aircraft, simulators, and maintenance processes.
Issue certificates of airworthiness or deny them based on findings.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
Recommend changes in operational procedures to prevent future accidents or incidents.
Monitor aviation operators and personnel to ensure adherence to Federal regulations.
Evaluate the mental and physical qualifications of airmen.
Prepare detailed reports and keep records of inspections, checklists, and other pertinent information.
