Summary of the Role
The VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining VoIP systems and solutions to ensure seamless voice communication within an organization. This role requires someone with a solid technical background in telecommunication systems, experience with network management, and a keen understanding of VoIP technology.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of VoIP protocols such as SIP, RTP, and H.323.
Proficient in using network diagnostic and VoIP test tools.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex VoIP issues.
Knowledge of networking concepts like TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, QoS.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in VoIP network design and implementation.
Proven experience with network management and configuration tools.
Familiarity with compliance standards and VoIP regulations.
Certification in networking or VoIP technology is a plus (e.g., CCNA, CCNP Voice).
Responsibilities
Design and deploy functional VoIP networks including switches, routers, and other telephony equipment.
Troubleshoot VoIP network issues and resolve them promptly.
Work closely with the IT team to integrate VoIP systems with other network systems.
Monitor VoIP system performance and make recommendations for improvements.
Create and maintain documentation related to VoIP system design and maintenance.
Provide technical support and guidance to end-users.
Ensure network security and compliance with relevant regulations.
