Qualifications

Pass a background check, including criminal history, psychological exam, and polygraph test
Meet the age requirement set by the hiring agency (commonly at least 21 years old)
Pass a rigorous physical agility test
No felony convictions and good moral character
Responsibilities
Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect crime
Respond to calls for service and provide assistance in emergency situations
Conduct investigations and gather evidence
Enforce local, state, and federal laws
Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records
Engage in community-oriented policing and participate in community outreach programs
Testify in court as needed
Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services
Participate in ongoing training and professional development
Maintain a high level of physical fitness and proficiency with law enforcement tools and technology
