Strong understanding of spacecraft systems and sub-systems, including propulsion, thermal, power, and communication systems.
Familiarity with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements for spacecraft design.
Experience in the integration and testing of spacecraft systems is preferred.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present design concepts effectively.
Ability to work well in a team setting and lead design-related discussions.
Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for certain projects.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of spacecraft design projects from concept to detailed design, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including systems engineering, propulsion, thermal, structural, and electrical groups.
Perform design analyses and simulations to validate spacecraft system performance against requirements.
Integrate functional spacecraft sub-systems and ensure compatibility with payload and mission constraints.
Support the design review process, including presenting design concepts and defending design choices to stakeholders.
Continuously stay informed of technological advancements and incorporate innovative solutions into spacecraft designs.
Contribute to technical proposals and provide expert advice on spacecraft design considerations for future projects.
Perform troubleshooting and resolve design-related issues during assembly, integration, and test phases.
Mentor junior designers and help develop their technical skills and understanding of spacecraft systems.
