Summary of the Role
As a Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Specialist, you will play a critical role in the collection, processing, testing, and distribution of blood products. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of blood bank regulatory requirements, excellent technical skills in blood group serology, and the ability to oversee the safe transfusion of blood products to patients.

Qualifications
Medical doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with a specialization in pathology or hematology
Valid medical license and certification in blood banking/transfusion medicine
2-5 years of experience in a clinical blood bank or transfusion service
Proven experience with blood bank regulatory requirements
Strong clinical tric skills in blood group serology and immunohematology
Responsibilities
Collect, process, test, and store blood and blood components ensuring compliance with industry standards
Conduct compatibility testing and antibody investigations
Manage the blood inventory to ensure an adequate supply of blood products for transfusion
Work closely with clinical staff to ensure that patient transfusion needs are met
Implement and oversee quality assurance programs to maintain high standards in transfusion medicine
Provide consultation to physicians and healthcare providers on appropriate blood product selection and use
Respond to emergency situations where rapid blood transfusion is required
Conduct research and contribute to studies in the field of transfusion medicine
Educate medical staff and students about best practices in transfusion medicine
Stay up-to-date with advancements in blood bank technology and transfusion medicine practices
