Summary of the Role
A Neonatologist is a highly specialized pediatrician responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of newborn infants with breathing disorders, infections, birth defects, or other conditions. They work in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) or special care nurseries. The role demands extensive experience in neonatal care and the ability to manage complex medical situations.

Substantial experience working in a NICU or special care nursery.
Proven ability to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in neonatology.
Solid track record of patient care and demonstrable clinical expertise.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects.
Coordinate care and medically manage newborns born premature, critically ill, or in need of surgery.
Ensure that critically ill newborns receive the proper nutrition for healing and growth.
Participate in the development and implementation of patient management plans, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
Provide consultation to obstetricians, pediatricians, and family care physicians regarding neonatal care management.
Conduct research to contribute to advancements in neonatal medicine.
Educate families on the medical conditions affecting their newborns and the care plan.
Supervise and mentor junior staff, including residents and fellows, and participate in professional education and training programs.
